I was booked in for a planned c section but 2 weeks before the scheduled date my waters broke so I went into hospital to get checked over.
I had high blood pressure so had to stay in from then on but as it was late at night and no contractions so I was lucky enough to be put into a room on my own for the night.
I was meant to be having the c section the next morning but emergencies kept getting put in front so it was now getting back round to 7pm and I hadn't been allowed to eat anything all day.
Then the contractions started increasing and I was in so much pain and they continued for 4 hours but they didn't have gas and air for me as I was in a post natal room
One of the reasons for having a planned c section was because of a previous medical condition but also because I didn't want to go through any of the pain! But it happened anyway.
When I was finally taken down for a c section the absolute relief from the epidural needle working was amazing. The c section wasn't great as I was shaking the whole time and trying not to be sick but my baby girl came out safe and well.
I was not so good and spent the next 4 nights in hospital and the first time I tried getting out of bed I fainted. My iron was so low that I was asleep more than I was awake and my scar was so painful I couldn't hardly move.
Recovery felt long and hard but we got there in the end '
