What the Alpine Retreat included
The Christmas 2024 event turned the Congleton play centre into a little Alpine village. It ran as a sequence, which is a big part of why it worked so well for small children:
- Passport Control. Every child was given their own Alpine Retreat Passport and a Golden Santa Ticket on arrival, so the visit had a beginning and a purpose from the first minute.
- Santa’s Grotto. The main event. Children met Santa, handed over their ticket and shared their Christmas wishes. Bring your phone: this is the photo you will want.
- Festive decorations and themed activities. The whole venue was dressed for the season, with surprises dotted around rather than everything in one room.
- Games, crafts and seasonal treats. Interactive games, a craft table and festive snacks kept everyone going between the set pieces.
Who it suits
This is a day out for families with younger children. Toddlers and pre-schoolers get the most out of the passport and the Santa visit, and because it is an indoor play centre older siblings still have somewhere to run off some energy.
